On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Elliot and Samuel have the following sports commitments:
- Both boys have flag football in the morning, at the same place, at roughly the same time. Details below. The punchline is you should leave 1810 West Dry Creek a bit after 9 AM, and drive to Santa Rosa Junior College, where you will stay until their games both end at or shortly after 12 PM.
- From there, you should take them to lunch. Their favorites are In ‘N’ Out and Chipotle, both of which are close and good options.
- Then things get a little tricky. Samuel has an indoor soccer game at Epicenter at 1:50, which he should arrive at by around 1:30 or so. And Elliot has a second set of flag football obligations at Cardinal Newman High School at 2 PM (practice at 2, game at 3).
- The way to navigate this afternoon slot will be to drop Samuel at Epicenter, with one grandparent, at 1:30. Then take Elliot to Cardinal Newman, which is probably 10 minutes from Epicenter, and drop him off; then drive back to pick up Samuel and the other grandparent at Epicenter; then go back to Cardinal Newman and watch Elliot’s game from 3-4.
Here is a proposed itinerary:
9:05 AM: Leave 1810 and drive to Bailey Field, the football stadium at Santa Rosa Junior College
–Samuel’s practice starts around 9:30; Elliot’s starts at 10
–Both of them have a game at 11, which will end at or shortly after 12
12:15 or so: Leave SRJC and go to Chipotle or In ‘N’ Out
–At Chipotle here are the kids’ orders:
- Elliot: burrito bowl, white rice, pinto beans, carnitas, guacamole, shredded cheese
- Samuel: burrito bowl, white rice, pinto beans, carnitas, cheese sauce (not shredded cheese), guacamole
–At In ‘N’ Out here are the kids’ orders:
- Elliot: Double-double, no tomato no onion
- Samuel: Cheeseburger, spread-only
- One order of fries for the two of them
1:15 or so: Leave lunch, drive Samuel to Epicenter
1:30 or so: Leave Epicenter, drive Elliot to Cardinal Newman
1:45 or so: Head back to Epicenter, leaving Elliot to practice with his team
2:40 or so: After Samuel’s game, head back to Cardinal Newman and watch Elliot’s game
4 PM: You made it! End of a long day. Go home, let the kids go on screens, order pizza or something similarly easy for dinner. Round Table is a good choice (though you made need to go pick it up–place the order at the one next to Big John’s on Healdsburg Ave)
